LENA EPSTEIN KORETZKY NAMED ONE OF THREE FINALISTS IN OAKLAND COUNTY EXECUTIVE L. BROOKS PATTERSON’S “ELITE 40 UNDER 40”Business and Community Leader Seeks Public Support in Online Voting Campaign
Bloomfield Hills, Mich., – Lena Epstein Koretzky, a Co-Owner and General Manager of Southfield-based Vesco Oil Corporation, has been named one of the three finalists in Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson’s “Elite 40 Under 40” campaign. According to Patterson, the “Elite 40 Under 40” represent his vision for Oakland County: Individuals who are excelling in their fields and working to improve the quality of life in their communities by giving back.
Nearly 400 people were nominated for the “Elite 40 Under 40.” The three finalists will now vie for the top spot by an online public vote. The top vote getter will introduce Patterson at the State of the County speech on February 8 and receive a year long pass to all of Patterson’s 2012 networking opportunities.
“I am honored to be chosen as one of the three finalists in this prestigious campaign,” said Koretzky. “I am a staunch believer in Michigan and Oakland County and would welcome the opportunity to further my civic and community involvement with a leader like L. Brooks Patterson.”
Koretzky earned her Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. She is also a graduate of Harvard University, with an AB cum laude in Economics. Koretzky is active in the community, serving on the Board of Directors for the Anti-Defamation League and Temple Beth El. She previously served on the Board for the Alzheimer’s Association of Michigan. Koretzky served on Leadership Michigan, the Michigan Chamber of Commerce’s elite program that develops leaders in the for-profit, non-profit and political arenas. In addition, she and her husband Brett chaired a high profile event last October with Governor Rick Snyder, arranging a speaking engagement and roundtable discussion with Southeast Michigan’s Emerging Jewish Leaders.
Koretzky is active in the Michigan Republican Party and is the 2012 Lincoln Club President. Under her leadership, this year’s Lincoln Club Dinner on February 16 is anticipated to be the largest in Oakland County’s history, with presidential candidate Rick Santorum scheduled to attend.
Nominations for the “Elite 40 Under 40” were open from September 1 until November 2, 2011. Judging began on November 3 and concluded on January 18, 2012. More than five judging sessions were held to narrow down the list of nominees. The judging committee included Patterson, Deputy County Executive Phil Bertolini, 52-3 District Court Judge Julie Nicholson, Dr. Cindy Grines, cardiologist at the Detroit Medical Center and Hilmer Kenty from Strategic Solutions and former boxing champion.
