Grace Centers Of Hope’s Annual Boogie Bowl Striking Out Homelessness Disco Fundraiser Exceeds Goal

More than $15,000 raised will support programs for local homeless

PONTIAC, Mich.March 17, 2011 – On Fri., March 11, the 3rd Annual “Boogie Bowl: Striking Out Homelessness” disco fundraiser that benefited Grace Centers of Hope was held at Thunderbird Lanes in Troy.  The event raised $15,653 in support of programs for local homeless adults and children.  Grace Centers of Hope and Hour Magazine presented this year’s successful event.

“The Boogie Bowl event is a wonderful opportunity to revisit the 70s and enjoy a night of disco bowling to raise funds and address the needs of the homeless in our community,” said Pastor Kent Clark, CEO of Grace Centers of Hope.  “Grace Centers of Hope serves more than 100,000 meals each year and provides shelter to approximately 200 people on any given night.  This night is always an entertaining event and a way to build awareness for an important cause while still having a lot fun.”

The disco fundraiser was open to those 21 years of age or older and for $30, tickets included three games of glow bowling, shoe rental, complimentary pizza and pop.  Non-bowler participants were $15 and all guests were given the opportunity to enter raffles and contests, including “Best Costume” during the 70s themed event.

“Last year, we had roughly 300 participants and raised more than $11,000 through bowler participation, raffles and sponsorships,” said Clark.  “We are ecstatic with the greater turnout and funds raised this year.  For 2012, we hope we can continue to grow Boogie Bowl into an even bigger event to surpass the total funds raised previously.”
