GRAMMY AWARD WINNER, CHRISETTE MICHELE AND JAZZ SAXOPHONIST, RANDY SCOTT TO HIGHLIGHT EVENING AT DON BOSCO HALL’S 14TH ANNUAL “GET JAZZY EVENING”

DETROIT— October 31, 2011—Don Bosco Hall, jazz saxophonist, Randy Scott, and Grammy Award Winner vocalist Chrisette Michele invite metro Detroiters to jazz up their Saturday at Don Bosco Hall’s 14th Annual “Get Jazzy Evening.” The event will be held Nov. 12, 2011 at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center (15801 Michigan Avenue, Dearborn, Mich., 48126) and will feature a performance headlined by Michele. Funds raised from “Get Jazzy Evening” will go directly to support Don Bosco Hall’s numerous programs for youth and families.
“We are excited and lucky to have one of the greatest talents in the world in Grammy Award Winner, Chrisette Michele at our 14th annual event,” said Charles Small, CEO of Don Bosco Hall. “Not only will we have amazing entertainment, but event proceeds will benefit in a positive way and go directly to the programs that Don Bosco Hall supports.”
Neo-soul singer, Chrisette Michele first developed her musical talents through singing gospel at the age of four years. God and music were instrumental in her upbringing. Her father played the church organ and her mother was the church’s choir director. Critically acclaimed for her distinctive voice and impressive vocal ability, the jazz-influenced song stylist won a Grammy award for Best Urban/Alternative Performance in 2009 for her song “Be Ok.” Guests of the 2011 Jazzy Evening event can expect to hear songs from her latest album, Let Freedom Reign.
Randy Scott is a professional musician, record producer and composer. He recently celebrated the release of his fifth album, 90 Degrees at Midnight, and also had the title single at number 14 on the national Billboard Jazz Songs chart. Scott was awarded two Gold records, two Platinum records and one Multi-platinum record for his work with Grammy award winner, Kirk Franklin.
Don Bosco Hall has served the Detroit community for 57 years and has worked with more than 60,000 youth and their families in programs such as Youth Assistance Program, Supervised Independent living, as well as Mentoring and Don Bosco Hall’s Male Leadership Academy.
A private pre-concert reception will take place 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. in the Hubbard Ballroom and will feature live music and strolling buffet. The show will begin at 8 p.m. in the Michael A. Guido Theater. Tickets range from $45 to $500.
