Community Outreach Conference to inform, inspire and engage leaders who are shaping the future of Southeastern Michigan FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. - May 19, 2011 - Leadership Oakland's Class of XXI and Oakland Community College will host "Action Speaks!" Community Outreach Conference from 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. on Wed., June 8, 2011 at Smith Theater located at Oakland Community College Farmington Hills Campus in Farmington Hills. The event will bring together community leaders and change activists to inspire, motivate, and engage individuals to make a difference in their communities through volunteerism and involvement in civic reform and community services. "A leader is someone who takes action even in the face of adversity," said Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson. "If you want to learn how to make a difference in your community, this conference will give you the tools you need to succeed." The conference will include presentations and discussions on local government issues, media influence, business and entrepreneurship, public education, and heath care services. All participants will have an opportunity to network with community leaders, share ideas with presenters and fellow attendees, and develop contacts for community programs.
