Military personnel get free help with taxes
The Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants in Troy has been offering some free services for military personnel. It was spotlighted in the Detroit Free Press.

Various volunteer groups across the country offer tax preparation for the military.

But Daniel Kloc, 45, who is with the Army Reserve and lives in Howell, said he doesn't think many people in the military know about the services.

One snowy Saturday in January, Kloc decided to drive about 55 miles one way to get his taxes done by volunteers at the offices of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants in Troy.

The group has dedicated some Saturdays for its second annual Military Tax Assistance Program, doing returns at no charge for active-duty or reserve military people.
