Dorian Reed had been toying with the idea of going back to college for several years but only if she could find a school close to home.

And when the Novi resident saw a billboard about South University coming to Novi in October, she jumped at the opportunity to be able to continue her education and still work full time.

South University goes north to Novi WITH VIDEO

A new university campus is growing on 12 Mile Road in Novi, just east of Twelve Oaks Mall, where adult students are offered the opportunity to advance in their current employment or start a new career. South University opened in Novi in October.

It is the first of eight South University campuses to be located in the northern part of the United States. The campus will be dedicated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. today that includes speakers and campus tours.
