Super Fight pits two undefeated boxers at the Silverdome

Saturday's HBO-televised "Super Fight" between Devon Alexander and Timothy Bradley at the Silverdome in Pontiac isn't the first unarmed combat event to be held there, but it shapes up as the biggest in terms of pugilistic quality.

There have been plenty of punches thrown at the Silverdome in the past -- at several boxing shows, WrestleMania III, Toughman contests and in the seats at Lions games -- but Alexander-Bradley, for the WBC/WBO light welterweight titles, is by far the most relevant encounter with two young, undefeated American champions colliding in a unification barnburner.

'Super Fight' gets famed referee Frank Garza

Lincoln Park Sports Hall of Famer Frank Garza has been appointed referee of the Devon Alexander-Timothy Bradley "Super Fight" at the Silverdome on Saturday.

Garza, 58, was named sixth best referee in the world by Ring Magazine in 2004. Garza has worked fights all over the country and around the globe including the Mike Tyson-Andrew Golota heavyweight bout at the Palace in 2000.

Detroit boxer Darryl Cunningham set for 'Super Fight' undercard bout
