Michael Odom is Senior Vice President at Marx Layne & Company, where he serves on the agency's senior management team and leads the firm's nonprofit practice. During his more than 20 years with the agency, he has provided strategic communications counsel to nonprofit organizations, healthcare providers, financial institutions, corporations, hotels, restaurants, economic development organizations and government agencies throughout Michigan.

Odom specializes in developing integrated communications strategies that help organizations strengthen their reputations, build stakeholder relationships and achieve their business objectives. He has extensive experience in media relations, executive thought leadership, crisis communications, community engagement, public affairs, social media and content development. Throughout his career, he has served as a trusted advisor to presidents, CEOs and executive leadership teams, helping organizations navigate complex communications challenges while positioning their leaders and organizations for long-term success.

In addition to leading the agency's nonprofit practice, Odom plays an active leadership role in the firm's operations as a member of its senior management team. He oversees the agency's human resources function, including recruitment, hiring and employee development, while helping guide strategic planning, firm operations, business development, marketing and client service initiatives.

A first-generation Mexican American raised in Southwest Detroit, Odom has long been committed to serving the community. He served 13 years on the Board of Directors of the Southwest Detroit Business Association, including 11 years as chairman, helping advance economic development and supporting one of Michigan's most vibrant Hispanic business communities.

Prior to joining Marx Layne & Company, Odom managed community outreach and public education initiatives for a Detroit-based nonprofit organization. His outreach campaigns serving Hispanic communities and at-risk LGBTQ+ populations received local, regional and national recognition.
